sGTM Hosting Providers: who runs where
Server-side GTM moves data processing off the browser — but where does it actually land? A reference table comparing European sGTM hosting vendors by infrastructure provider.
Server-side GTM is often positioned as a privacy improvement over client-side tracking. The framing is accurate in some dimensions — fewer third-party scripts in the browser, more control over what data leaves your domain. But the infrastructure question is separate: where does your sGTM container actually run, and under whose legal jurisdiction?
| Vendor | Legal entity | Infra provider | DC regions | CLOUD Act | FISA 702 | Self-hostable | DPA | Verified |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stape | CY | GCP | europe-west1 (Belgium) | yes | yes | no | yes | 2026-04-12 |
| Addingwell | FR | own (EU dedicated) | FR/EU | no | no | no | yes | 2026-04-12 |
| Taggrs | NL | unknown | unknown | partial | partial | no | yes | 2026-04-12 |

What the data shows
A note on methodology specific to this category: for sGTM hosting, what matters is where the container server runs — not where the vendor’s marketing website is hosted. Many providers front their sites with Cloudflare CDN while running actual containers elsewhere. Where possible, lookups were performed on the vendor’s sGTM-specific subdomains.
Stape’s EU endpoint (eu.stape.io) resolves to Google LLC in Brussels — GCP, US-owned. This is consistent with sGTM’s native integration with Google Cloud and is the expected default for most managed sGTM platforms.
Addingwell claims to run on dedicated EU infrastructure rather than GCP or AWS. This could not be confirmed via automated IP lookup (their endpoints resolve to Cloudflare). Community verification via Layer 2 or direct support inquiry is needed — if you have verified this, please open a PR.
Taggrs, incorporated in the Netherlands, similarly could not be confirmed via automated means. The actual sGTM container infrastructure is not publicly documented. This table is a starting point, not a final answer for this vendor.
The structural observation: self-hosting sGTM on Hetzner, OVH, or another EU-owned provider is currently the only verifiable path to non-US-owned sGTM infrastructure.
